African Artists may reach the highest level of professional competency and still lack a thorough educational background. The professional artist often does not get exposure to the basic education that the general public receives and lacks, not the professional skills to succeed, but rather the breadth of exposure that a rigorous academic background provides.
The AAF will seek to address this need through a holistic approach to education. Courses in history, literature, philosophy, architecture, art history, graphic design, financial management and computer literacy will be offered. A multipurpose library will provide the artists with a resource for information on science, history, religion and literature. A visiting professor program will ensure that the education is international in its scope.
Through its Educational Centre, the African Artists Foundation will provide the tools to allow artists to stand for themselves.
