African Artists Foundation Community Housing Project is an ambitious program designed to provide a permanent working and living environment for a mixed community of artists and non-artist residents. The Community, designed by Nigerian architects, will serve as a centre of AAF activities and will provide a nurturing environment for both artists in residence and visitors to the community.
The community will provide subsidized housing for qualifying artists and serve as a magnet for visiting artists, art students and professional artists in short-term residence providing educational opportunities for cross-cultural exchange. The Community will offer a unique opportunity to participate in the highest level of cultural activities in a tranquil setting outside of Lagos.
Guesthouses throughout the community will provide visitors from the United States and Europe an affordable, serene, rural setting for weekend retreats and weeklong specialized workshops with visiting artists. The AAF Community Museum will feature exhibits of the finest African artists' work side by side with work of artists from across the globe whose work was influenced by African Art.
