Introducing African Artists’ Foundation’s current Artist-in-Residence, Caleb Kwarteng Prah @.
African Artists’ Foundation (AAF) is delighted to announce Caleb Kwarteng Prah as its latest Artist-in-Residence. A Ghanaian photographer celebrated for his striking depictions of the working class, Caleb’s photographic compositions blend portraits with everyday objects and paintings, creating a unique dialogue between images, objects, and the human experience in Ghanaian urban culture.
Over the next few weeks, Caleb will be immersing himself in Lagos, working closely with the African Artists’ Foundation as part of the *Dig Where You Stand – from Coast to Coast* (DWYS) project. This initiative focuses on decolonization, restitution, and regeneration through art, fostering local collaborations and reversing extractive practices. It also seeks to create sustainable economic and cultural exchanges across African coastal cities, making it a timely and significant contribution to ongoing cultural conversations.
Caleb’s involvement with the DWYS project follows the success of the 4th iteration of *Dig Where You Stand* in Benin, where his work was prominently featured. The project now comes to Lagos with an activation exhibition at Alliance Française, showcasing works that bridge artistic dialogues between West African nations. Caleb’s powerful visual narratives, which highlight Ghana’s working class, will once again be presented at the exhibition.
During his residency, Caleb will explore Lagos’ vibrant cultural landscape, forging meaningful connections with local artists and curators. His time in the city will allow him to expand his network, laying the groundwork for future collaborations that will enrich his artistic practice. As this is Caleb’s first visit to Lagos, AAF is excited to witness the cultural exchange that will undoubtedly inspire new creative ventures.
