African Artists’ Foundation (AAF) proudly presents a Creative Workshop in collaboration with Magnum Photos, as part of the Beyond the Silence project, led by Giulietta Palumbo (Magnum Photos) and Laurence Cornet (Dysturb, France).
About the Workshop
This unique workshop examines the global interconnectedness of conflicts, exploring their impact, resilience, and the untold narratives from countries like Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Mexico. Participants will critically engage with pressing global themes, connecting local struggles to broader realities.
Through the lens of photography, text, and body language, the workshop aims to:
- Illuminate untold stories.
- Challenge dominant narratives.
- Create spaces for meaningful dialogue and collaborative exploration.
Key Themes
The workshop explores pivotal topics such as:
- The possibility of avoiding violence.
- The meaning and dynamics of systematic violence.
- How individuals and communities cope with conflict.
Real-world examples from Magnum photographers and other documentarians will inspire participants, showcasing the resilience of communities affected by conflict.
