DWYS opens doors in Palais de Lome

“Dig Where You Stand: From Coast to Coast”

Traveling exhibition was opened, the 15th of September at the
Palais de Lomé, Togo. It consisted
of programming i.e. talks, performances and panel
discussions around the project and the topics of
restitution, displacement, circular economy,
migration and labour, the talks will take place on the
16th of September at Palais de Lome.
This marks the second iteration of this traveling
exhibition, after its launch in SCCA
Tamale, Ghana in 2022. Now, with renewed
enthusiasm, it opens grandly at our esteemed venue,
as the artists unveil stories that have long been
hidden and illuminate the intricate complexities of
identity and human connection.

The exhibition aims to address questions of
decolonization, restitution and repatriation in a new
and location-specific way. The curatorial concept
focuses on regeneration, offering the exhibition as
an experimental site for the repatriation of capital,
ecology and resources – both tangible and symbolic
– toward a reclamation of the commons.
This edition envisions a symbolic “Door of Return”
uniting Lomé, Togo with other Ewe-speaking
countries, fostering African unity.
Date: 15th of September
Time: 3pm
Venue: Palais de Lomé, Togo.
The exhibition opened will with a performance by Hodin Senyon
